Itinerary
- Day 1: Cairns - Mary Valley (LD) After a 7.00AM pick up on Shields Street, in front of The Woolshed, your adventure begins. We begin our climb up the Great Dividing Range through the historical gold mining region of Palmer River. On reaching the Laura area, we stop off at the Quinkan Cultural Centre (admission at own expense). Our overnight camp is at a true blue Aussie Cattle Station, Mary Valley.
- Day 2: Mary Valley - Wenlock River (BLD) An historic route today; old Musgrave Telegraph Station - frontier gold town, Coen, the picturesque Archer River Crossing and on to our overnight camp on the banks of the Wenlock River with its abundance of exotic birds and wildlife.
- Day 3: Wenlock River - Seisia (BL) Travelling north through the wilderness, we stop off for a refreshing swim at Fruit Bat Falls, before we come to our last great natural barrier, the Jardine River. After disembarking from the ferry we stop at Bamaga and finally on to Seisia, Cape York, our camp for tonight overlooking the Torres Straits. Here, we enjoy a beachfront camp.
- Day 4: Seisia - Cape York - Twin Falls (BLD) An early start today, stand on the very Top of mainland Australia. Then southward bound, we re-cross the Jardine River. We travel along the upper section of the Old Telegraph Track, en route to Twin Falls. An early arrival allows plenty of time to enjoy a refreshing swim and view the pristine falls.
- Day 5: Twin Falls - Archer River (BLD) Today we head south on our return journey through now familiar wilderness with all its various landscapes to re-cross the Wenlock River, then onto our overnight camp at the picturesque Archer River.
- Day 6: Archer River - Lakefield National Park (BLD) We head east towards Princess Charlotte Bay and Lakefield National Park. An amalgamation of 3 huge cattle stations, now a haven for the many birds and animals native to the area. Lagoons, billabongs, and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. We camp the night in Lakefield National Park.
- Day 7: Lakefield NP - Cairns (B) This morning we stop off at Old Laura Homestead and visit Split Rock Aboriginal Rock Art, before heading towards the East Coast on the last leg of our journey. A scenic drive along the Captain Cook Highway is a perfect way to complete your safari. We will arrive in the late afternoon in Cairns.
