With one of the shortest travelling times to the reef, Seastar offers a unique island and outer reef experience. Arriving at our first destination, the pristine wilderness of Michaelmas Cay in just over 1 hour, where for 2½ hours you can swim, snorkel, dive, island walk or laze around in the protected waters of the island.

Beautiful coral starts at Seastar only a few metres swim from the boat and the Seastar is so close to the cay you can swim to he shore, or if you prefer take the ferry to the beach. Here the coral is only a few steps from the water’s edge, yes, walk to the reef! Walk on the brilliant white soft coral sands of the cay then join the snorkel tour from the beach, take an introductory or certified dive, with so much free time there is opportunity to do all, or nothing. After 2½ hours the crowds have arrived so we skedaddle.

Lunch is served while travelling to Hastings Reef, only 20 minutes away.

At Hastings you can enjoy the magnificence of the outer reef, with its deep water, canyons of coral, trenches overhangs and a myriad of colourful fish. After practicing at Michaelmas Cay you are ready to tackle this reef, take another snorkel tour and do more diving or if you want to stay dry go on the Glass Bottom Boat tour. After another 2½ hours it is time to return to Cairns.
